Near-Miss at Juba International Airport as Ethiopian and Uganda Airlines Planes Avoid Collision

Juba, South Sudan – A serious aviation incident was narrowly avoided today at Juba International Airport, after an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft came dangerously close to colliding with a Uganda Airlines plane during its landing approach.

The Ethiopian flight, which was in the process of landing, reportedly spotted the Uganda Airlines aircraft still positioned on the runway for takeoff. Thanks to quick action by the Ethiopian flight crew, a disaster was avoided at the last moment.

According to eyewitnesses and preliminary reports, the Ethiopian plane remains airborne, circling the airport in search of a safe window to land. However, ongoing poor weather conditions, including reduced visibility and strong winds, are severely complicating the landing process.

Sources also report that the airport control tower has been struggling to coordinate safe landings, with some suggesting the tower officer was overwhelmed by the rapidly changing conditions and poor visibility on the ground.

“It’s a miracle a collision didn’t occur,” said one aviation technician at the airport. “This incident highlights the urgent need for improved communication and weather-related safety protocols at Juba International.”

No injuries have been reported, and airport authorities are expected to launch an immediate investigation into the incident. Flight delays and temporary runway closures are anticipated.

This is a developing story. More details will be released as the situation unfolds and official statements are made available.
