Kenyan ‘Jesus’ Goes into Hiding After Followers Threaten Crucifixion During Easter

A man who refers to himself as the “Jesus Christ of Kenya” has gone into hiding after some of his followers allegedly plotted to crucify him during the Easter weekend, claiming he must fulfill the same fate as the biblical Jesus. The self-proclaimed messiah, whose real name has not been disclosed for security reasons, filed a report with local police, stating that his life was in danger. According to him, a faction of his followers insisted that, to truly prove his divinity, he must be nailed to a cross during Easter in a symbolic re-enactment of the crucifixion.

“They told me the time had come. They wanted to see if I would rise on the third day,” he reportedly told police.

The man had drawn growing crowds in Bungoma County and surrounding areas after allegedly performing what some locals believed were miracles. His most famous act, according to eyewitnesses, was turning water into tea during a wedding ceremony—a modern-day twist on the biblical account of Jesus turning water into wine.

However, the tea miracle was not enough to spare him from the escalating demands of his followers. When he failed to agree to their plan for a crucifixion, tensions rose, forcing him to flee for his safety.

“I’m not ready to die for the sins of Kenyans,” he said, adding that his mission was to preach love and transformation—not to suffer a brutal death.

Police say they are investigating the threats and are monitoring known associates of the group that allegedly planned the act. Bungoma County authorities have also urged residents not to fall victim to religious extremism or charismatic manipulation.

The bizarre turn of events has stirred heated debate across social media, with some calling for the arrest of those threatening his life, while others ridicule the man’s claims of divine status.

Regardless, the self-proclaimed savior now finds himself in exile, not from a hostile government or empire, but from the very flock that once called him a miracle worker.
