When the government replaces SPLM-IO leaders loyal to Machar with handpicked allies, it is not building peace—it is breaking it. When commissions are stacked with loyalists, the spirit of compromise dies.
This agreement was signed in blood. It cannot be changed unilaterally without consequence.
If the Revitalized Agreement is to mean anything, it must be defended in its original form. This includes the rightful roles of all parties, including the Nuer-led SPLM-IO.
The international guarantors of peace must intervene. Otherwise, South Sudan will drift back into chaos, and this time, the betrayal will be written in the ink of hypocrisy.
